Having an existing kitchen hand painted has two extremely beneficial aspects. Not only does it create the impression of a brand new kitchen but it also saves the disruption caused by removing your old kitchen and fitting a new one. Stunningly hand painted kitchens transform your space, whether it’s veneered, varnished, waxed, lacquered or laminated.
The Painted Kitchen Process
The hand painting process starts by removing the kitchen cupboard doors and drawer fronts. After this the kitchen cabinet doors and fronts are prepared and primed, so that a flawless finish may be applied by hand. All the fitted kitchen fixtures are primed and hand painted in situ.
The interiors of the kitchen cabinets are not normally hand painted as the carcasses are usually veneered, laminated or oiled in production. It can be very labour intensive to paint or oil the insides of kitchen cupboards so if you required this to be done, it would incur an additional cost.
I do however paint the inside of glazed kitchen doors.
Paint Colours And Special Kitchen Paints
We use Tikkurila paint in the kitchen painting process. Tikkurila is the forerunner for a painted kitchen and is used by all the large kitchen manufacturers. The paint is extremely durable and gives a flawless hand painted finish.
If you have a particular kitchen colour in mind we can colour match the paint to your requirement. This includes traditional colours from Farrow and Ball and the Little Green Company

Can Laminate Kitchens be painted?
Laminate kitchen cabinet doors can be painted once they have been prepared by a kitchen painting specialist. You can achieve a hand painted kitchens even if they have a gloss finish. The super primer that we use has an excellent adhesion factor that can be applied to any kitchen cabinet, door or fixed surface. When the topcoat is then applied, the finish is smooth, durable, and extremely hard-wearing.
A painted kitchen can still be produced even if your laminate is chipping, flaking or coming away from the board underneath. There is no need to worry as you can still renovate your kitchen.

If you are weighing up the cost of a new kitchen, think seriously about the cost of a hand painted kitchens refurbishment first!
For example, the average price in the UK for a new kitchen is in excess of £7,000 and up to £100,000 for a luxury kitchen*. Whereas, a current fitted lacquered kitchen would cost approximately £1400 – £2100 to achieve a hand painted kitchens, looking like new.
